Advice

Make the right choice

When thinking about what is the best carpet for your home, there’s a lot more than just the colour and style to choose from. We have collated some handy advice to help you:

Type of room – Carpet on your stairs is likely to deal with a lot more feet on it than your living room, so it is important you consider the area of your home which the carpet is destined for. While all of our carpets have been designed to withstand the wear and tear of family life, make sure you check the suitability listing to ensure it meets your needs.

Made to measure – We manufacture our carpets in a range of standard widths, but if you need different sizes, our Multi Width service means you can still save money and reduce waste. You’ll also find some advice on how to measure your room in our FAQs section.

Moth Resistance – Safe and effective protection to avoid potential damage caused by moths comes as standard on all of our Axminster, Wilton and tufted carpets (with the exception of the Natural Choice range). Read our Moth Resistance Fact Sheet for more details on the level of protection provided.

Underfloor heating – Carpets will still work with underfloor heating, but it’s important to ensure you select the right tog rating. Research from the Carpet Foundation recommends a maximum total tog rating of carpet and underlay of 2.5 when fitting on top of underfloor heating.

Quality – We are proud to manufacture high quality carpets – but don’t just take our word for it. The Quality Mark is based on the Carpet Foundation’s suitability evaluation system, and is your assurance that our claims about the suitability of our products are valid and accurate. This system is endorsed and independently monitored by the Textile Institute, the world-wide body for textile professionals.
