Decorex 2016

This year Decorex was held at Syon Park and yet again textural designs were centre stage. A few of our designers went to scope out the latest trends, here's what they discovered...

The emphasis this year was on flooring and rugs, with many geometric patterns and distressed designs increasing in popularity in this sector. The key to up and coming flooring trends is texture, whether it's a textural pattern or the actual feel of the material. Our Open Spaces range is the ideal textured flooring option, supplying warmth, simplicity and and quality for any home. Strong geometric patterns are also in vogue, with larger prints such as the houndstooth making a come back. Another trend dominating the flooring scene is distressed patterns. This distressed style is no stranger to interiors fanatics, the shabby chic furniture was wildy popular last year and continues to be in high demand. Now this craze is moving to our floors. Unsaturated hues and subtle tones will perfectly complement these textural designs.

The show highlighted the increasing popularity of luxurious materials such as tactile silk, velvet and metallics. Bring this style to your floor with our Ulster Velvet range which boasts 5 new classic yet contemporary colour ways. Harder materials such as metallics and tiles were used to ground the softer elements. In terms of colour, blue interiors are snowballing onto the interiors design scene, right through from bright, fresh tones to dark, inky hues. Blue is set to be a central interior design colour that is going to stick around. It pairs perfectly with the enduring trend for grey interiors.

The overall vibe from the show was that patterned flooring is definitely making a come back. Whether it's strong, geometric patterns or subtle, distressed designs, there will certainly be something to suit everyone. These unique flooring ideas are a breath of fresh air and the perfect way to make a design statement in your own home. Here at Ulster we are committed to bringing you the latest textures, colours and patterns in our ranges so that you can have a comfortable and stylish home. Keep an eye out for some new Ulster ranges that fit in perfectly with these key trends!
