Guest blog - Dandelion Lane Interiors

Dandelion Lane Interiors recently attended the Ideal Home Show in Dublin's RDS, owner Jill tells us all about the inspiration behind their stand...

"We were invited to exhibit with Colourtrend paint, an Irish company based in Celbridge Co. Kildare. Their stand comprised of 7 interior designers who were each given a 3m x 4m space to put together a room setting using Colourtrend colours. I chose 'Old bone' and 'Dressage' from their contemporary collection in a matt emulsion. These colours where chosen to complement the fabric I had decided to use which was 'Snakeshead' by William Morris and an old gold velvet by Sanderson.

The entire scheme oozed sophistication and timeless elegance, mixed with a modern retro twist by reupholstering an original 1965 suite of furniture. I also used a new ercol coffee table in petrol blue, a mid-century cupboard I bought in a local charity shop for £30 and a mid-century plant stand also bought second hand. The lighting was a beautiful drop pendant made up of five individual oversized bulbs which I hung at different heights within the room set. Instead of using wooden flooring I chose carpet from Ulster Carpets newly launched range 'Watercolours'.  I am a big believer in supporting local businesses and being from Portadown myself Ulster was the obvious choice. The new range is stunning and it received many compliments at the show. I think it will be a very popular range for Ulster this year and beyond."

"I firmly believe in making your interior your own by brining in pieces with historical meaning to you like your grannies old chair or pieces from a particular period in time. It makes for a more individual and interesting home. It's very easy to go and buy everything you need for a room from one large department store, but in my opinion houses then become generic. It is much more appealing to make your house your home by injecting your personality throughout. I say don't follow trends! Do what you love and you will never tire of it."

I think we can all agree that the stand looked beautiful and Jill has truly created a scheme that ties together a mix styles for a luxurious interior. We are delighted that Jill chose to use our new Watercolours Mineral Brimstone, it fits perfectly with her scheme!
