Ulster Carpets is one of the most technologically advanced woven floor-covering manufacturers in the world. We currently have a vacancy in our Business & Technology Solutions Department working within a Support Team to service our global organisation.

Job Title: IT Support Technician

Department: Business & Technology Solutions Dept.

Responsible to: IT Support Supervisor

Job Purpose: Day to day monitoring and maintenance of the company’s computer systems, networks and associated technology, and provide expertise to support and enhance Ulster’s business technology and processes

Key Duties

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications
  • Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks
  • Manage user accounts using Active Directory management.
  • Support and manage company Apple iOS smartphone and iPad devices using the companies MDM system
  • Provide Helpdesk support to resolve (PC/Mac system) issues as reported by the end Users, responding within agreed time limits to call-outs
  • Ensure that all company devices are secure in terms of antivirus software, security updates and in compliance with IT security policies
  • Assist customers with identifying and specifying hardware and software needs to address business requirements, aligning with IT standards.
  • Maintain/administer the company backup solution(virtual and physical instances)
  • Create and update documentation (Intranet FAQs, User guides, Standard Operating Procedures, Knowledge base) for IT supported services and applications.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on basic facility issues; including new wiring installs, UPS battery tests, network cable runs & telecommunications.
  • Support the network (Lan & Wan) and thus the virtual environment Vmware.
  • Manage data storage on all systems by ensuring regularly housekeeping is carried out.
  • Debugging code as part of fault finding
  • Writing basic reports
  • Replacing parts as required
  • Co-ordinating and supporting the specification and roll-out of new applications
  • Establishing good working relationships with customers
  • Testing and evaluating new technology
  • Produce management reports and analyse data within spreadsheets.
  • Work in conjunction with the IT Development team to ensure a high standard of support is available to the company and that day to day operations are not interrupted
  • Work within the IT Support team to ensure solutions are shared by enhancing the knowledge base and discussing solutions within the team.
  • As required you may be expected to travel to other Ulster Carpet sites.
  • Carry out any other duties as deemed necessary and reasonable by management Additional Responsibilities for all Employees

Essential Criteria

  • A degree or equivalent 3rd level IT qualification and a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role.
  • Experience supporting the following o Windows Server 2008-2016 o Microsoft Office Products o Windows Operating System up to version 10 o Apple devices inc. Mac, iPads and iPhones o Virtual Environment Vmware with VEEAM Backup and replication o Network equipment (e.g. Cisco, Netgear) o VOIP systems o Software & Hardware deployment
  • Experience debugging code and writing basic reports
  • Hold a clean driving licence and have use of a car

Desirable Criteria Experience with the following:

  • Lotus Notes
  • Jde ERP system or similar
  • Supporting and trouble shooting LANs and WANS
  • Fortigate Firewall maintenance
  • Citrix Xenapp server maintenance

Job Title: Software Developer Department:

Business & Technology Solutions

Responsible to: Business & Technology Solutions Senior Executive

Job Purpose: To develop IT solutions, applications and interfaces to support and enhance Ulster’s business processes and to provide competitive advantage.

Main Duties and responsibilities

  • Full life cycle development
  • Scope, design and develop new applications and interfaces in a controlled validated environment.
  • Ensure that all programs and changes are documented and are implemented within the company’s I.T. change control procedures.
  • Unit testing frameworks
  • Assist users in training by providing user documentation and assiting with the change control process.
  • Liaise closely with other people throughout all areas of the business  
  • Continue to develop your own technical knowledge and skills by attending in house and/or external courses and reading relevant articles/manuals.
  • Ensure interfaces to all systems are maintained and developed in line with business changes.
  • Work in conjunction with the IT support team to ensure a high standard of support is available to the company and that day to day operations are not interrupted
  • As required you may be expected to travel to other Ulster Carpet sites.

  • Experience in the following technologies: ORM- Entity framework WCF/WPF .Net 4.5 +
